Introducing the Dead Leaf Harvest and the Managed Leaf Heap

How you can turn the dreaded leaf fall into a valuable resource in 7 months, eliminating the need for municipal pick-up and the everlasting pile.

What is the Dead Leaf Harvest?

The Dead Leaf Harvest is the activity of gathering autumn leaves and piling them in a special way with soil and water to make a usable mulch or soil amendment in only 7 months.  By managing your leaf 'resource' in this way you can use up all of last fall's leaves by the middle of the summer and eliminate the need for a perennial mountain of leaves.

Advantages of the Leaf Heap

Packs an enormous amount of leaves into a working composting situation

This style of composting uses no food and does not attract animals

Makes a soil amendment that is not as acidic as the leaves you started with

Reduces the area and time needed to cycle autumn leaves back into the ground

Bagging leaves and municipal pick-up of leaves will not be necessary

Some of the finished product can be used in starting your next leaf heap
